UsabilityOne - Online user testing

Online user testing

Online user testing supports moderated user testing in measuring the ease with which users can complete common tasks on your website. The key benefit of this approach is the opportunity to reach a large sample which provides further evidence of where your design is effective and ineffective.

Online testing is an effective method to gain quantitative data in support to the qualitative results of the moderated testing. In online tests users are asked to perform tasks on your website and provide feedback from their home or office, without a moderator present. This helps to simulate a real-life scenario and allows running a high number of tests (generally over 100).

Task completion, common paths, number of clicks, time spent on each task and other data is captured for analysis and the results are presented together with the findings of the moderated testing. It is ideal for reviewing information architecture, benchmarking against competitor sites and gaining broad feedback.
